JL Herald was born in Canberra, Australia and currently lives in the area. While dabbling in poetry on and off for years, she turned to poetry to help in her healing after a traumatising series of events. The solace JL Herald has found in poetry and expressing herself through prose unlocked a desire to share these thoughts with others.

She currently lives with a few of her kids, her cats Eevee and Sox, and her beagle Sherlock.
